Internet Story at BFI onedotzero Festival!

Have you heard the Good News? Internet Story will be playing at the BFI onedotzero Festival this November, down on London’s Southbank.

It’s an uber-cool digital/innovation event that I’m really proud to be a part of. The film is part of the New British Talent 10 programme which will be playing at the following times:

Wed 10 Nov | 16:00 | NFT3
Sat 13 Nov | 13:30 | NFT1
Sun 14 Nov | 20:30 | Studio

I’ll most likely be attending the Sunday showing but might go to the Saturday one as well. There’s loads of other cool things going on (see the programme) so it’d be great to see you there!

Tickets go on sale from the BFI for the general public on Oct 12th (or Oct 5th for sneaky BFI members).

An Update

Internet Story Has Premiered

The Internet Story premiere went very well – just a cast and crew shindig at Channel 4′s little screening room. And here’s a picture of me looking pleased/smug afterwards. Thanks to those that came!

The short now has an IMDb page and is currently attacking the festival circuit at home and abroad. I’ll let you what happens!

Open Cinema

I recently did a little bit of Production Design/Animation work for Open Cinema - who run cinemas for homeless and socially excluded people, as well as make cool short films on micro budgets. My work for their latest film Heroes and Villains was premiered at BAFTA and well-recieved. Watch out for the cardboard – that’s my bit!

Can you hear the Secret Sounds?

Strobe Warning! I have a new music video up!

Secret Sounds is the launch track for Screaming Maldini’s new EP. The video pretty much speaks for itself, but I hope you get an idea of the good fun we had while making this. I just loved scripting to such a cool, high-energy track (with a 5/4 time-signature even!), and the band were also a joy to work with.

Credits, details, photos, everything else: here.

Breast Cancer UK / Bisphenol A Update

The issues explained in my Breast Cancer UK Video are breaking further into public awareness.

Wednesday’s The Independent, gave the topic front page coverage, discussing breast cancer and its links to chemicals like Bisphenol A across 6 pages. Breast Cancer UK are mentioned throughout.

And at roughly the same time, my video is going increasingly international.

I’ve already translated the graphics into French for the charity RES (who’ve put the video on their front page), while I’m also currently collaborating with Greenpeace Czech Republic and the Spanish Charity ISTAS are on their respective translations.

The video, if you’ve missed it, is below:

It’s nice to be part of something like this!

Scream If You Wanna Go Faster

Blam. Last week, I directed and produced a music video for the band Screaming Maldini . I love their song “Secret Sounds” and the whole thing’s a real pleasure to be editing at the moment. So you know, I’m using some lovely Thaumatrope illustrations, jump-cuts, period costume, and, of course, a few surprises.

Stay-tuned for the finished HD video in mid-March!

“Moving to Mars” Cinema run

Moving To Mars

Moving to Mars: no it’s not a sci-fi domestic drama, but a feature-length documentary that I Edit Assistanted many months ago.

Two families take a remarkable journey in this documentary by Mat Whitecross (co-director of The Road to Guantanamo), which follows a group of Burmese refugees travelling from temporary camps in Thailand to their new home in Sheffield.

The ICA have kindly granted it a two week cinema run before it eventually arrives at More4. I think this is a fascinating and moving film, and it recieved a similarly positive reception at DocFest. There’s a Q&A screening with the director on the 22nd of January, which I will be attending, and I hope you might be able to come along as well.

IMDb page here, website here. And I’m outta here!

My Scribblings on ITunes!

OllyOnItunes
Since releasing my Olly The Octopus video, the ever-verbal YouTube community has given it a hearty reception. And now it’s nice to see the charity single released on ITunes, complete with my illustrated album art! Very official.

Help make it a Christmas Number One here.

Spongebob Dylan…

Ta da! Just finished a music video for the semi-ironic protest singer/songwriter Olly the Octopus.

The video is for his Charity Christmas Single, “A Call To Arms For Hippies”. It’s lo-fi like a blow fly, but hopefully rather charming. Let me know what you think!
