You may not know it, but I’ve been directing promos for BBC Two since March this year.
Here’s some recent ones that I’m particularly happy with:
The Rob Brydon Show
A “something-for-nothing” trailer using a Rostrum camera.
The Code – Stings
3 enigmatic stings to drive people to an online maths-related treasure hunt.

Towards the end of last year, I was approached by the French environmental charity Reseasu Environment Santé to write and direct an animation for their campaign on BPA plastics. Narrowing down from several proposed scripts, we eventually developed The Story Of A Tin Can into the above promo.
Having worked with Jonathan Harris on Internet Story, I was very happy to for him to animate the entire film this time!
Likewise, the music is from another long-term collaborator: Blair Mowat.

The issues explained in my Breast Cancer UK Video are breaking further into public awareness.
Wednesday’s The Independent, gave the topic front page coverage, discussing breast cancer and its links to chemicals like Bisphenol A across 6 pages. Breast Cancer UK are mentioned throughout.
And at roughly the same time, my video is going increasingly international.
I’ve already translated the graphics into French for the charity RES (who’ve put the video on their front page), while I’m also currently collaborating with Greenpeace Czech Republic and the Spanish Charity ISTAS are on their respective translations.
The video, if you’ve missed it, is below:
It’s nice to be part of something like this!

Last week, I was pleased to learn that Breast Cancer UK won the award for “Best Communicated Message” at the recent Liberal Democrat Conference.
As they had been playing my commissioned promo throughout the event, and received a lot of positive attention over it, I can’t really help but take some of the credit. Well done to the whole team!

Several months ago, I was commissioned to produce an animated promo for the charity Breast Cancer UK. The trustees have been really happy with it and are currently touring it around various political conferences. It’s fun and informative, so you might like to check it out above! Full details here.
In other news, my thanks to those who attended probably the last public screening of Arcadia at the Portobello Film Festival. Thanks for laughing/semi-gasping at the right bits! There were also loads of neat films in the programme, so it was a great fest to be part of.
